Top 4 Places to Extend Ski Season

Where to find snow from May-September

Even in a good powder year, some of us are still itching for more time on the slopes when the spring and summer roll around. While many resorts in North America shut down in late April or early May, this year you're able to extend your season of resort laps well into July. For those with a bigger travel bug, you’re in luck too. International locations like Europe, South America, and Australia have got you covered in our off-season.

1. North America

Looking for a place where you can kick it lakeside one day, and gear up for some summer skiing the next? Mammoth, Palisades, and Alpine will give you the best of both worlds. Skiing at Palisades will be open through May, and Mammoth and Alpine will be ringing in the Fourth of July with you… on the slopes.

For those of you in Oregon, Colorado, and Utah, you’re also set. Mt. Bachelor and Snowbird will be open through the end of May, and A-Basin is set for a June 5th closing date. If you wanted to venture up to Canada this winter but couldn’t find the time, Whistler and Banff are waiting. You’ve got until May 22nd to head North.

2. South America

Chile and Argentina make it easy for you to add a second ski season to your year. Portillo, Las Leñas, and Cerro Castor are just a few of the many South American resorts with the season starting in June.

Looking to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience skiing in Chile? Check out Dav’s Superstar Ski Camp in Portillo. From August 12th-19th, you’ll get the chance to be one of the thirty skiers embarking on this adventure with ski professionals like Dav.

3. Europe

Locations like the Alps are renowned for their extended seasons. Heck, Hintertux even boasts about their year-round skiing opportunities. In Tignes, you’ll discover the truth in the saying “c’est toujours le bon moment” when you’re tackling some late spring and summer runs.
